Similar species: This moth differs from similar species in having a white rather than yellow-brown leading edge to the forewing.

Forewing: M 10 to 12mm, F 14 to 17mm

Habitats: Marshes, fens, bogs and reed-choked drainage ditches.

Habits: The moth flies from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in the lower stems of Common Reed, Reed Sweet-grass, Greater Pond-sedge or other sedges. It pupates in a stem base just below a small round exit hole prepared by the larva, about 50 to 75mm above the root.
