Similar species: Single-dotted Wave Idaea dimidiata has black patches at the trailing edge of the forewing, but lacks them at the leading edge.
Forewing: 10 to 11mm
Habitats: Woodland rides and margins, hedgerows, downland scrub and gardens.
Habits: The moth flies from dusk and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the withered and dead leaves of Ivy. In captivity it accepts Knotgrass, plantains and other low-growing plants. It pupates just under the soil.
