Similar species: Dotted-border Wave Idaea sylvestraria has much less prominent cross-lines and a smaller dot in the forewing.
Forewing: 10 to 11mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, conifer plantations, scrub, hedgerows and older established gardens.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in the wild. In captivity it accepts the withered leaves of Knotgrass, bramble, plantain and Dandelion. It pupates in the leaf litter.
