Similar species: Cream Wave Scopula floslactata is on average larger (13 to 16mm), has a more arched leading edge and has only a tiny dot in the hind wing and none in the forewing.
Forewing: 12 to 13mm
Habitats: Marshes, damp meadows and stream margins, but also dry breckland heaths.
Habits: The moth flies from dusk and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Meadowsweet and Common Valerian. In captivity it will take Purple Loose-strife, Hawthorn, Knotgrass and groundsel. The larva overwinters in the leaf litter where it pupates in May.
