70.028 Rosy Wave Scopula emutaria (Hübner, [1809])
Notable B
Similar species: The larger (14 to 16mm) Sub-angled Wave Scopula nigropunctata has a central bar that curves around toward the leading edge rather than stretching from the middle of the trailing edge of the forewing towards the apex of the wing.
Forewing: 11 to 13mm
Habitats: Salt-marsh and sand-dunes. Inland acid bogs.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed during the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light
Foodplant: Probably Common Sea Lavender as there is a strong association with that species. It has not been successfully reared on Sea Beet, which had previously been considered as a foodplant. In captivity it will accept Dandelion, chickweeds, Hop Trefoil, Common Bird's-foot Trefoil, Sea Campion and Knotgrass. It pupates in the leaf litter.
