Suspected rare Immigrant

Similar species: Spanish Carpet Scotopteryx peribolata is smaller with a divided cross-band that has a smooth rather than notched kink on the outer side.

Forewing: 17 to 19mm

Habitats: Sandy scrub heathland, sheltered woodland margins, hot calcareous grasslands and similar sites.

Habits: There is record from Guernsey in 1973 and there were two unconfirmed northern England records from the late 19th Century (the latter are not shown on the map).

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Broom and Dyer's Greenweed.

On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Sainfoin.
