Similar species: Sharp-angled Carpet Euphyia unangulata has a single triangular tooth on the outer edge of the cross-band with a smooth edge each side of it. White-banded Carpet Spargania luctuata lacks the greenish inner and outer areas of the forewing and has a darker outer area to all four wings.
Forewing: 14 to 17mm
Habitats: Damp woodland, coastal wooded paths, mossy ravines.
Habits: The moth is sometimes disturbed in the day. It comes to light late in the evening.
Foodplant: The nocturnal larva feeds on Stitchworts. In captivity it will accept Common Chickweed. It pupates in a cocoon in loose soil.
On the European mainland it feeds on Greater Stitchwort, Wood Stitchwort and Common Chickweed.
