Habitats: Mountain moorland and slopes with exposed rocks.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk onwards, often in large numbers. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Heather and Bilberry. In captivity it will take sallow and Knotgrass. It pupates low on the foodplant or in the leaf litter.
