Similar species: Spruce Carpet Thera britannica and Grey Pine Carpet Thera obeliscata both lack the deep notch on the inner side of the forewing cross-band.
Forewing: 13 to 16mm
Habitats: Coniferous woodland, plantations and shelter belts, especially on light soils.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from the foodplants during the day. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Scots Pine or Corsican Pine. It pupates in the leaf litter or amongst needles on the tree.
