Habitats: Deciduous woodland clearings and rides, scrub, hedgerows, calcareous grassland scrub and gardens.
Habits: The moth flies around the foodplant from dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Dog Rose, Burnet Rose and probably other wild roses. In captivity it will accept garden roses. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon in the leaf litter.
