Similar species: Water Carpet Lampropteryx suffumata is superficially similar, but is on average smaller (14 to 17mm) and flies earlier in the year (with a slight overlap).
Forewing: 17 to 19mm
Habitats: Woodland, especially at the margin of small streams, allotments and gardens.
Habits: The moth comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Red Currant, Black Currant and Gooseberry. It is found more frequently on shaded plants. It pupates between spun leaves on the foodplant.
