Similar species: The simple markings and resting pose with forewings over the hindwings, but well away from the abdomen, should distinguish this moth from other similar species.
Forewing: 15 to 18mm
Habitats: Woodland rides and margins, scrubby grassland, Scottish glens, hedgerows, ditches, sand-dunes, road verges and gardens.
Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Cleavers and other bedstraws. It pupates in the leaf litter.
On the European mainland it has been recorded feeding on Hedge Bedstraw, Lady's Bedstraw and Woodruff.
