Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 12 to 15mm
Habitats: Calcareous grassland, other unimproved grassland, grassy verges along hedgerows and woodland margins, damp meadows, the edge of wet flushes and stream margins.
Habits: The moth flies mainly in sunshine, although the male may fly at any time as long as the weather is calm.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the flowers and seeds of Pignut or occasionally Cow Parsley, Rough Chervil or Bur Chervil. It pupates just below the soil.
