Similar species: Sandy Carpet Perizoma flavofasciata has a large projection on the outside of the orange-brown cross-band that reaches the outer brown area.

Forewing: 10 to 12mm

Habitats: Calcareous grassland and other grasslands, dune-slacks, sand-dunes and vegetated coastal shingle.

Habits: It flies during the day especially towards dusk. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the ripening seeds of Yellow Rattle, living inside the capsules. It pupates under the soil.
