Habitats: Open woodland, rides and coppice clearings. Meadows, dune-slacks and sand-dunes.
Habits: The moth occasionally flies briefly in the afternoon, but is otherwise not easily disturbed. It flies from dusk and comes to light.
Foodplant: The flowers of Common Cow-wheat and occasionally Yellow-rattle. It pupates in the leaf litter or in loose soil.
