Similar species: Grey Pug Eupithecia subfuscata has a rounded spot in the forewing, rather than a vertical dash. It also has clearer less diffused cross-lines.

Forewing: 11 to 13mm

Habitats: Ancient woodland, parkland and urban avenues of limes.

Habits: The moth lives in the tree canopy, but comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the inner parts of the flowers of Small-leaved Lime and less often Large-leaved Lime and the common hybrid Lime. It pupates in the leaf litter or under loose soil.
