Similar species: With its rusty coloured "cloak" and wing-tips this otherwise small mainly white moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any British or Irish species.
Forewing: 7 to 9mm
Habitats: Arid slopes.
Habits: The moth flies from dusk and comes to light. The first British record was at light in the Dorset coast in early August 2020. It has recently spread north from southern Europe.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain or Ireland.
In southern Europe the larva feeds on Hog's Fennel, Burnet-saxifrage and Hogweed.
