Similar species: Streak Chesias legatella rests with the same posture, but has a long streak in the forewing and flies later in the year.

Habitats: Moorland, heathland, woodland clearings, scrub, embankments with established Broom and breckland.
Habits: The moth is sometimes disturbed during warm weather and can be found resting on posts. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Broom. It pupates under the soil, sometimes overwintering twice.
