Common

Similar species: Broom-tip Chesias rufata rests with the same posture, but lacks the streak in the forewing and flies earlier in the year.

Forewing: 17 to 19mm

Habitats: Heathland, moorland, open woodland, embankments with scrub, sand-dunes and gardens.

Habits: The moth flies around the foodplant at dusk, settling on the branches when it is dark. It later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Broom or sometimes Tree Lupin. It pupates under the soil.
