Rare Immigrant
Similar species: Treble Bar Aplocera plagiata is smaller (19 to 22mm) as is Lesser Treble Bar Aplocera praeformata (16 to 19mm). Both lack the red-brown colouring on the inside of the central band.
Forewing: 20 to 25mm
Habitats: Dry grassland, meadows, woodland clearings, sunny mountain slopes and similar habits.
Habits: The moth comes to light. Two British records.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on St John's-wort and Imperforated St John's-wort.
