Similar species: September Thorn Ennomos erosaria differs in that the leading edge end of the inner cross-line is less curved and merges into a dark suffusion at the leading edge. The outer cross-line lacks the kink just before it reaches the leading edge and the whole of the legs are similar in colour to the body.
Forewing: 18 to 22mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland, downland scrub, hedgerows and gardens.
Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Pedunculate Oak, probably Sessile Oak, Small-leaved Elm and other elms, limes, Silver Birch, Downy Birch, Beech, Blackthorn, Hawthorn and other deciduous trees. It pupates amongst spun leaves of the foodplant.
On the European mainland it has been recorded from Norway Maple.
