70.259 Olive-tree Beauty Peribatodes umbraria (Hübner, [1809])

Similar species: The much greyer Willow Beauty Peribatodes rhomboidaria is similar but has only a small dark area where the outer and central cross-lines meet at the trailing edge, rather than a dark blotch stretching nearly half way across the forewing. Mottled Beauty Alcis repandata has two loops in the forewing outer cross-line and it does not angle and meet with the central cross-line at the trailing edge.

Forewing: 20 to 25mm

Habitats: Woodland.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Evergreen Oak.
