Forewing: 15 to 21mm
Habitats: Heathland, moorland, mosses and acid bogs.
Habits: During the day the moth is easily disturbed from rocks and bare ground amongst Heather. It comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Heather, Bell Heather and Cross-leaved Heath. It prefers plants in short swards. It pupates in a cocoon attached to the foodplant or in the leaf litter.
