Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 13 to 14mm
Habitats: Short-turfed, calcareous grassland in warm sheltered sites.
Habits: The moth is nocturnal and comes to light, but is easily disturbed in the day. It usually rests hanging from vegetation in a triangular pose.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Common Restharrow. In captivity it will accept Spiny Restharrow. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon under the foodplant.
