Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 14 to 17mm
Habitats: Ancient or old established woodland, mature hedgerows oaks in wooded areas.
Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed from oak foliage during the day. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Pendunculate Oak and probably Sessile Oak. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon amongst fallen oak leaves.
