Immigrant / transitory resident

Similar species: The black crescent or "V" in the centre of the wing distinguishes this moth from White Satin Leucoma salicis.

Forewing: 19 to 27mm

Habitats: In Britain only in a tall elm hedgerow and shelterbelt. On mainland Europe it is found in deciduous woodland, scrub and parkland.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva has only been recorded feeding on Elm in Britain. In captivity it will accept lime. It pupates amongst spun leaves on the foodplant.

On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on sallows, poplars, birches, Hazel, limes and occasionally Beech.
