Local

Similar species: The female Yellow-tail Euproctis similis is on average smaller (F 17 to 23mm), has white legs, slightly feathered antennae and has a yellow to orange tip to the abdomen rather than an all white abdomen.

Forewing: 18 to 27mm

Habitats: Woodland, scrub, carr, hedgerows, poplar plantations, willow beds, scrub on sand-dunes, parkland and gardens.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Goat Willow, Crack Willow, other willows, Aspen and other poplars. The young larva overwinters communally in a web on the foodplant. It pupates in a bark crevice or spun amongst leaves on the foodplant.
