Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any British or Irish species.

Forewing: 15 to 22mm

Habitats: Open dry grassland, damp grassland, heathland and woodland clearings

Habits: The moth is diurnal and flies in sunshine.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland it feeds on grasses such as fescues, Meadow Clary, wormwoods, Dandelion, plantain, hawkweeds and Knotgrass, Heather and other plants. It pupates in the leaf litter.
