Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any British or Irish species.

Forewing: 15 to 22mm

Habitats: Dry open areas in southern Europe and North Africa.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day and flies in sunshine. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland it feeds on a wide variety of herbaceous plants including Vipers Bugloss, Alkanet, Borage, gromwells, forget-me-nots and plantains.
