Similar species: Purple Marbled Eublemma ostrina has a white to buff coloured base to the forewing and has dark streaks along the veins.
Forewing: 11 to 12mm
Habitats: In central and southern Europe it inhabits warm, dry, open grassland.
Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The flowers and seed-heads of Carline Thistle, Creeping Thistle and other thistles including Carduus spp. It pupates in the flowerhead.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on globe thistles and Burning Bush.
