72.089 Parallel Lines Grammodes bifasciata (Petagna, 1786)

Immigrant

Similar species: Only the inner cream forewing band of Geometrician Grammodes stolida is straight, the outer band is a ragged curve with an inward point half way across.

Forewing: 15 to 17mm

Habitats: In southern Europe it inhabits wetlands and sandy areas especially near the coast.

Habits: The moth comes to light. The first British record was at light in Cambridgeshire in early July 2020.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. In southern Europe it feeds on bindweeds, knotweeds, Cistus spp., brambles, White Wormwood Artemisia alba and Rough Bindweed Smilax aspera. It pupates in the leaf litter or in loose soil.
