Forewing: 17 to 20mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, fens, marshes, hedgerows and gardens.
Habits: The moth comes to light and occasionally sugar.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Goat Willow and other sallows, apples, wild roses, Cotoneaster spp., oaks and other deciduous trees and shrubs. It pupates in a cocoon under bark or in a crevice.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Silver Birch, Alder and limes.
