Similar species: If care is taken the unique markings on the grey forewing, should mean it is unlikely to be mistaken for any other day flying British or Irish species.
Forewing: 15 to 18mm
Habitats: Open, sunny dry places with scrub.
Habits: The moth flies during the day. The two British records were both from Start Point Lighthouse in South Devon in June 1937.
Foodplant: In southern Europe the larva feeds on Pitch Trefoil (Arabian Pea) Bituminaria bituminosa.
