Similar species: This moth with a cream edged kidney mark, oval and veins, plus pink outer edge to the outer central cross-line, hooked wing and very hairy legs, is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 15 to 16mm
Habitats: In Europe it inhabits deciduous and mixed woodland clearings and where Bracken is a ground cover in open woodland.
Habits: The moth comes to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva feeds on Bracken. It overwinters as a larva in a cocoon in the leaf litter where it pupates in the spring.
