Similar species: The pale forewing with a large triangular blotch on the leading edge is enough to separate this moth from other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 9 to 10mm
Habitats: In Europe it inhabits woodland clearings and margins, damp meadows, marshy grassland, stream and river margins.
Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva feeds internally within the main stem of grasses, bur-reeds, bistorts, docks, Sheep's Sorrel and goosefoots.
