Similar species: Pale Mottled Willow Caradrina clavipalpis has a browner forewing, has a reddish band of markings in the outer area of the forewing and lacks a light orange marking between the white spots on the outer side of the kidney mark.

Habitats: In southern Europe it inhabits open, hot, dry sites with areas of bare soil.
Habits: A female moth was attracted to light at Totteridge, Hertfordshire on 8th October 1967.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. In mainland Europe the larva are stated to be polyphagous on a wide variety of low-growing plants and grasses. It pupates in the soil.
