Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland, scrub, rough grassland and heathland.
Habits: The moth comes to light and sugar.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Broad-leaved Dock, other docks, Common Sorrel, vetches, Knotgrass and other herbaceous plants. It pupates in a cocoon under the soil.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Copse-Bindweed.
