Habitats: Bogs, wet acid moorland, fens and marshes.
Habits: The male flies on sunny afternoons and again from dusk. The moth nectars at Common Ragwort and other flowers and is attracted to sugar and light
Foodplant: The larva feeds inside the stems of Common Cottongrass and probably rushes and club-rushes. It pupates in the leaf litter.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Field Wood-rush, Iris and rushes.
