Similar species: The two darker streaks down the narrow forewing, the darker scaled veins on the outer edge of the wing and the straight leading edge, should separate this moth from similar wainscots.
Forewing: 15 to 18mm
Habitats: Coastal sand-dunes and dune-slacks.
Habits: The moth can be found in large numbers resting on the foodplant after dark. It flies from dusk and comes to light soon after.
Foodplant: The larva feeds inside the lower stem of Lyme Grass, below the sand level. It pupates at the base of the foodplant.
