Similar species: Concolorous Photedes extrema is smaller (11 to 13mm), heavier built and has a more angular forewing.
Forewing: 12 to 14mm
Habitats: South-facing slopes of calcareous grassland, coastal landslips and undercliff.
Habits: The moth rests on the stems of the foodplant after dark. It is attracted to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds inside a stem of Tall Fescue. It pupates among shoots at the base of the foodplant.
