Similar species: The small size and white edged kidney mark should separate this moth from similar species.
Forewing: 15 to 17mm
Habitats: Marshes, fens, the margins of lakes, ponds and ditches, broads, damp grassland, damp woodland clearings and rides.
Habits: The moth visits the flowers of rushes and other flowers. It is attracted to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Reed Canary-grass, Wavy Hair-grass, Common Couch-grass, Annual Meadow-grass and other grasses. It pupates in a dead plant stem or amongst the leaf litter.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Common Reed and sweet-grasses.
