Similar species: A distinctive species. The British form of this moth was lighter than the European species. As the name suggests the males have feathered antennae.
Forewing: 17 to 20mm
Habitats: Calcareous grassland, downland. In southern Europe it inhabits nutrient poor short-turfed grassland and rough grassland with many tufted hummocks.
Habits: The moth visits flowers including Wild Privet and comes to sugar and light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Annual Meadow-grass, Wood Meadow-grass and other grasses. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon in the leaf litter.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Sheep's Fescue, Upright Brome, Yarrow and other herbaceous plants.
