Similar species:

Forewing: 3 to 3.5mm

Habitats: Woodland, marshes and fens.

Habits: The moth rests on a trunk during the day.

Foodplant: The larva bores distally in the petiole of Grey Poplar which results in swelling. On reaching the leaf it makes an elongate triangular blotch with a double line of frass between the leaf margin and the first side vein or between the midrib and the side vein. The larva can be found in fallen leaves with green 'islands'. It pupates in a cocoon on the soil surface.
