Similar species:
Forewing: 3 to 3.5mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland.
Habits: The moth is parthenogenetic in Britain and Ireland, except in south-west Ireland.
Foodplant: The larva bores into the petiole of Aspen resulting in a swelling. When reaching the leaf disc it makes an elongate blotch between the midrib and the first lateral vein. The larva can be found in fallen leaves with green 'islands' where they overwinter before pupating in the leaf litter in the spring.
