Forewing: 4 to 6mm (both sexes winged)
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland and gardens.
Habits: The moth rest on tree trunks in the day and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on lichens and algae growing on tree trunks, fences and walls. It pupates in its case attached to a trunk or rock near to where it fed. The pupal case is left half protruding from the larval case on emergence.
