Habits:
Foodplant: The early stages are unclear. The larva feeds probably for two years on algae in the genus Desmococcus, supplemented with dead insects and perhaps lichens. It lives under and rarely on the sides of lichen covered stones and rocks in a flattish, elongated case of greenish-grey microscopic lichen. It pupates in its case in the spring.
