Similar species: Psychoides filicivora lacks the white crest, white blotch at a third near the trailing edge of the forewing and the white stria along the leading edge. Check the genitalia to identify.
Forewing: 4 to 5mm
Habitats: Mixed woodland.
Habits: First recorded in a poly-tunnel at Ipswich Golf Course, Purdis Heath, Suffolk on 8th August 2007. The moth has since been recorded at light in Essex. It occasionally flies in the day.
Foodplant: The larva is thought to feed on bracket fungi and the surrounding dead wood.
