Habitats: Barns and outbuildings. Previously wherever its larval foodstuffs could be sourced.
Habits: The moth was once a pest in unheated buildings.
Foodplant: The larva feeds from within a silk tube on fur, feathers, hair and wool. It is also found in birds nests and is known to feed on owl pellets and detritus in wasp's nests etc.
