Habitats: Deciduous woodland and woodland rides.
Habits:
Foodplant: The larva makes a gallery mine on the underside of a Hazel leaf which leads to a squarish blotch. This causes the lower side of the leaf to become discoloured brown. The larva then inhabits at least two successive upward folds (rarely downwards) on the leaf margin.
