Habits: It rests on tree trunks during the day and comes to light in large numbers.
Foodplant: The original gallery mine on a Horse Chestnut leaf soon widens into a brown upper surface blotch. The blotch is elongate and rufous brown with a dark centre and is often between two lateral veins. There can be twenty or thirty mines in a leaf causing the whole leaf and sometimes the whole tree to turn brown.
